A new study shows that almost 82% of supply chain professionals will continue working in their domain for the next five year. According to the 2019 Supply Chain Salary and Career Survey, published by the Association of Supply Chain Management, a majority of the survey participants said that they were satisfied working in the field of supply chain. The survey asked respondents to rate their satisfaction on a scale of 0 to 10; 80% selected a rating of 8 or above.

The satisfaction results are completely different from a Gallup World poll, where 85% of professionals said that they were unhappy with their jobs. 82% of supply chain professionals said they would continue working in the same field for the next five years. The survey found that, while there is still a gap between the salaries offered to men and women working in the supply chain, it looks to be narrowing. Among male and female supply chain professionals under the age of 40, the difference in salaries is under $1,000.

Abe Eshkenazi, the CEO, Association of Supply Chain Management, said that the supply chain industry offers professionals from all backgrounds and profiles quick career advancement, personal and professional satisfaction, together with high compensation. Mr Eshkenazi also said that the association has created a new interactive tool for members, which allows them to make changes to tenure, education, job title, and certification could impact compensation and salary.

The report also found that supply chain professionals are climbing up the salary ladder. In 2018, they enjoyed a salary increase of 4.2% compared to 3% in 2017. Almost 91% of respondents said that they had received a salary hike. Almost all the survey participants said that they receive holiday pay, while 80% said they get three weeks or more annual leave. Over 50% said that their company allows flexible working so they can work from home if necessary.
