International delivery giant FedEx has acquired the UK-based P2P Mailing Ltd for £92m, securing supply chain jobs at the UK headquarters of P2P mailing.

P2P, an international parcel delivery company specialising in ecommerce solutions, was previously owned by The Delivery Group, which also includes Secured Mail and CMS. FedEx said in a statement that the acquisition would complement and expand the firm’s portfolio in the global ecommerce marketplace.

Supply chain jobs at P2P Mailing, which is headquartered in Basildon, Essex, appear to be secure as FedEx welcomed P2P team members into their family of companies. Richard W. Smith, President and CEO of FedEx Trade Networks Ltd, said that the firm looked forward to uniting the talents of both teams to contribute to their continued success.

P2P Mailing will function as a subsidiary of FedEx Cross Border, which is part of the FedEx Trade Networks operating company.

The Delivery Group had previously incorporated P2P Mailing into its family of companies in October 2016. Delivery Group Chairman Paul Carvell wished all the employees of P2P “every success” under the company’s new ownership.

He insisted that The Delivery Group would maintain its strong commercial relationships with Secured Mail and CMS, and would continue to develop its direct marketing mail, ecommerce and managed mail services.

Carl W. Asmus, FedEx Cross Border President and CEO, said that as global ecommerce grew rapidly it was increasingly important to be able to offer innovative and cost-effective methods of transporting items from distribution centres in one country to customers in another.

P2P Mailing provides so-called “last-mile” delivery solutions via its relationships with a network of retail, clearance, postal and private providers in over 200 countries. It also uses its own TRAKPAK software system, a global tracked delivery solution designed to support cross-border ecommerce.

“By adding P2P to the FedEx portfolio, we will be able to effectively serve even more elements of the ecommerce market,” Asmus said
